Why I painted Blood Angels of all things, yes that’s a long story that may be told here one day, but not now. For now, let’s concentrate on the models:
My five red guys are a wild mix of a wide variety of editions. Calidus, far right, is the oldest model, to this armor would actually belong a helmet with this “penguin beak” (MK VI or Corvus armor) . Calidus, however, proudly displays his graying hair.
I carefully filed off the rivets that would normally be on the left shoulder armor so that he would blend in with the group to some extent. (I know, heretic…)
Damian on the far left is a rare pewter model with the armor with the “collar” around the lower rim of the helmet (MK VIII for all you extranerds), Bethor (with the banner) and Azrael (in the foreground) are classically assembled from metal bodies with plastic arms and weapons, and finally Ezekiel is one of the infamous snap fit plastic models from what I believe is the second edition base box, decorated with a purity seal from the current Command Squad box.
A through D were painted before the turn of the millennium, E(zekiel) only this year. There they are now, with freehand logos and insignia, and hand-painted banner as well. I like them very much. I’m still especially proud of the lettering on the body-facing side of Azrael’s bolter. Glory, indeed.

Warum ich ausgerechnet Blood Angels bemalt habe, ja das ist eine lange Geschichte, die vielleicht einmal hier erzählt werden wird, aber nicht jetzt. Konzentrieren wir uns zunächst lieber auf die Modelle:
Meine fünf roten Jungs sind eine wilde Mischung aus verschiedensten Editionen. Calidus, ganz rechts außen, ist das älteste Modell, zu dieser Rüstung würde eigentlich ein Helm mit diesem “Pinguinschnabel” gehören (MK VI oder Corvus-Rüstung) . Calidus allerdings zeigt stolz sein ergrautes Haar.
Die Nieten, die normalerweise auf dem linken Schulterpanzer wären, habe ich sorgsam abgefeilt, damit er sich einigermaßen in die Gruppe einfügt. (Ich weiß, heretisch…)
Damian ganz links ist ein seltenes Zinnmodell mit der Rüstung mit dem “Kragen” um den unteren Helmrand (MK VIII für alle Extranerds), Bethor (mit dem Banner) und Azrael (im Vordergrund) sind klassisch zusammengebaut aus Metallkörpern mit Plastikarmen und -waffen, und schließlich Ezekiel ist eines der berüchtigten Snap Fit Plastikmodelle aus der, ich glaube, zweiten Edition Grundbox, dekoriert mit einem Reinheitssiegel aus der aktuellen Command Squad Box.
A bis D sind noch vor der Jahrtausendwende bemalt worden, E(zekiel) erst dieses Jahr. Da stehen sie nun, mit Freihandlogos und -Abzeichen, und handgemaltem Banner auch. Mir gefallen sie sehr gut. Besonders stolz bin ich immernoch auf die Schrift auf der körperzugewandten Seite von Azraels Bolter. Glory, indeed.
